Walter Darrell Solomon, Sr., resident of New Orleans, LA, fell asleep in death, Sunday, July 7, 2024. He was a skillful painter for Jim Simmons Reality; who called Walter, "Sol". Walter grew up in the Calliope Projects; known as "NINE" and at his apt.complex, they called him "KING". He loved the city’s culture, especially the Second Lines. He was well-known as "The Towel Man" in the French Quarters, sold many things there; truly an entrepreneur; a hustler at heart. In 2004, he successfully completed his Theological studies at Universal Life Church and Christian Academy, in New York; received his license as an ordained Minister of the Gospel. He was an inspirational and motivated speaker. Minister Walter Solomon, Sr., was also awarded a certificate for Minister of Music. He loved to sing! Walter is preceded in death by his Father; Joseph Solomon, Sr., Mother; Audrey Solomon, 2 brothers Joseph Solomon, Jr. and Dwight Solomon. Survived by 2 sisters; Paulette Sykes (James), Doris Sykes and 1st wife, Deborah C. Solomon. Known children; Walter Solomon, Jr., Catrice Bradley, Jonathan Miller, Sr., Kevin Solomon, and Unique Devine. Even during his trials of illness, he endured to the end knowing that God Got Him. Walter D. Solomon, Sr., will be deeply missed by his family and friends who truly loved him. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, July 27, 2024 for 10:00 a.m. at the Second Zion Baptist Church #2, 3333 Third St., New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Reverend Chrissell Rhone, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at HOLT Cemetery, 527 City Park Ave, New Orleans, LA. Repast: The National Association of Letter Carriers, 4200 Elysian Fields Ave. New Orleans, LA. from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Special thanks to Dura Med Mobility, Doctors of LCMC; nurses of Wound Care at the LCMC (Tulane Ave.) New Orleans, LA, Hanger Clinic, Jefferson, LA and Magnolia Gardens .
