Verline Champs-Clark entered eternal life on Saturday, June 2, 2018. The daughter of the late Albert Champs and Helen Champs-Hunter, Verline was born August 16, 1927 in Opelousas, LA and attended Opelousas Senior High School. She worked for the Fairmont Hotel in New Orleans for over 40 years. She married Willie Clark Jr. on November 10, 1946, and their union bore 10 children; William Clark (Claudia), Geraldine Batteau (Walter), Charles Clark (Estella) Gloria Clark (Glenn), Margie C. Davis (Michael), Harry Clark, Henry Clark, Phyllis C. Johnson, Phillip Clark (Rose), and Anita C. Collins (Willie). Their marriage lasted 59 years, until her beloved Willie gained his wings. Verline was proceeded in death by her husband Willie Clark Jr., her sister Rose Knight, her daughter Gloria Clark, sons Harry, Henry, and Charles Clark, grandson Tyrone Clark, and great-grandson Taewine Smith.

Survivors include her daughters, Anita, Phyllis, Margie and Geraldine; her sons, William and Phillip; 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Family, friends and employees of the Fairmont Hotel, Tulane University and New Home Ministries are invited to attend a funeral service celebrating the life of Verline Clark on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 10 AM at New Home Ministries, 1616 Carondelet St, New Orleans, LA 70130. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until the hour of service.
