Minnie Louise Jones McClaine Phillips made her peaceful transition on Saturday, October 28, 2023, while resting at home surrounded by family. Minnie was born on February 16, 1940, in Fayette, MS to Sarah Jones and Albert Williams. Minnie graduated from Liddell High School in Fayette, MS. She had a passion for the culinary arts – the tradition of it, cooking it, and sharing it. Minnie believed cooking was truly an act of love. During her youth, Minnie accepted Christ as her personal Savior. After moving to New Orleans, she united with the Stronger Hope Baptist Church, participating in services, and singing in the choir as a member of the Gospel Chorus. Minnie enjoyed traveling and journeyed with the Stronger Hope Baptist Church Religious and Educational Tours across the United States and the Bahamas performing God’s work. She continued her faithful Christian walk under the leadership of Reverend Nicholas K Derouen, Sr. until she transitioned. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Albert, her brother, Edward Jones, and her son, Anthony McClaine. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her beloved husband, John Phillips, Jr.; her daughter, Brenda Ukandu, her son, Keith (Erica) McClaine; 4 stepchildren, Ladessa Lather, Marlo (Denetta) Phillips, Vernon (Danielle) Holmes, Vanessa (Percy) Holmes; Godchildren, Angenita Tyler New and Valencia Tyler Teamer, 22 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” II Timothy 4:7-8
