Marvin “Horse” Blunt, a former employee of Kingsley House/Educare, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Passages Hospice following a lengthy illness. He was 61 years old and a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a graduate of George W. Carver Sr. High and Delgado Community College’s Sheet Metal Apprentice Program. Son of the late Edna M. Harris and Eugene R. Blunt. Loving father of Jatiia B. Jackson, Adrian and Audrianna Blunt, and grandfather of seven grandchildren. Brother of Diane B. Flax, Gladys B. Savone (Kenneth), Yvonne B. Treadwell (Leroy), Dolores Carter (Mitchell), Geraldine Moore, Manuel Sims (Terry) and the late Melvin Harris, Richard Sims and Gloria H. Fernandez.
He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Relatives, friends and staff of Educare, Tulane Medical Center Hospital, Tulane Cancer Center and neighboring churches are invited to attend the service. A funeral will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10AM at My Redeemer Missionary Baptist Church, 2829 Washington Avenue in New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be from 8AM to 10AM. Pastor Sha’teek A. Nobles, Sr. officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, 10400 Old Gentilly Road, New Orleans, LA.
