Julia Aline Ellzey slipped into the arms of her Heavenly King on Wednesday Morning, July 14, 2021 at her home with her loving husband Larry L. Ellzey by her side at the age of 71.
She was born on October 11, 1949 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Wiley and Naomi Jenkins. She was the middle child of two brothers, Wiley H. Jenkins, Jr. and the late Elder Robert J. Jenkins, Sr. She married her loving husband Larry in 1967 and they were married for 53 years.
Julia was a faithful, fruitful, and devoted member of the Macedonia Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Dave Jones, Jr. where she served as Usher Board President, Outreach Team Member, and Hospitality Committee Member. She received her Evangelist Missionary’s License in July, 2012 from the Church of God in Christ Inc., Louisiana Eastern Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.
She was a steadfast worker inside and outside of the church and her strong organizational, interpersonal and accounting skills were an asset in various organizations. She held leadership roles at Gaylord Department Store, St. Charles General Hospital and McKenzie Bakery. Her longest professional tenure was as a cafeteria manager in Orleans and St. Tammany Parish School Systems for almost 20 years until she retired in January 2011 after becoming fully vested in the State of Louisiana. She was also a member of the New Orleans Food Service Organization for many years.
Julia was a beautiful, loving, gifted, and faithful Woman of God. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She traveled everywhere with her beloved husband. She was an excellent cook and every meal she prepared was made with love. Her strength in the Lord was truly a blessing to many because she prayed without ceasing, diligently came to the aid of family and friends in need, and always had a big hug and an encouraging word waiting for you. She adopted the Bell Family and Mother Alice B. Thompson as her second family and enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could.
Her memories will be cherished by her loving and devoted husband, Deacon Larry L. Ellzey, dedicated brother Wiley H. Jenkins, Jr., sister in law, Missionary Frances W. Jenkins, brother in law, Thad Ellzey, two godchildren, Chauntis Jenkins Floyd and Bayly R. Jenkins, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-and-brothers in Christ and friends.
