James Davis

 On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, James R. Davis, Jr. well known to others as “Lucky” was called to his eternal resting place. James was born on August 26, 1966, to Reverend James R. “Duke” Davis, Sr. and Celina P. Davis. 

James was baptized at an early age at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Boothville, LA by the late Reverend John Taylor. He later rededicated his life to God at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Braithwaite, LA under the leadership of Reverend Michael Jiles, Sr. where he faithfully served on the deacon board and as a member of the male chorus.

Lucky was a graduate of Boothville-Venice High School of Boothville, LA, Class of 1985. He joined the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office in May of 1988 and honorably served the community for 34 years before retiring. Lucky started out at the jail as a correctional officer and later became a deputy patrolling the streets. He was a natural born leader and was promoted to Sergeant, Lieutenant, and then Captain. After his retirement, he later returned to work part-time with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office continuing his dedication to the community.

James is survived by his loving family, who will forever cherish his memory

Southern Kidney Specialist, and Fresenius Kidney-Behrman Hwy and Plaquemines Parish Community

 are invited to attend the Celebration of Life for James Roy “Lucky” Davis, Jr, at Bethlehem Baptist Church 111 Bethlehem Ln. Braithwaite, LA 70040 on Saturday January 11, 2025 at 11:00 am. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 am. Pastor M. Jiles will officiate and entombment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna.
