Gilmore Wheeler, Jr. entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the age of 72. Devoted brother of Ronald (Rhonda), Barbara (Huey), Michael, Kenneth (Joyce), Sherrill, Marlene, Darlene, Marjorie and Lester (Cynthia). Preceded in death by his parents, Iola and Gilmore Wheeler, Sr.; stepfather, Joseph Thibodeaux; grandparents, Artemus Buster Henderson and Maud Henderson; aunt, Ivanola Jourdain; uncle, Buster Jerry Henderson; brothers, Reginald and Lawrence Wheeler; nephew, Kermit Wheeler; and grandson, Ivan Wheeler. Also survived by a host of children; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives, friends of the family, also Pastor, officers and members of St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church, Destiny Christian Center, in Laplace, LA; Fishers of Men Tabernacle, Port Allen, LA; Watson Memorial, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church, 2926 Jackson Avenue, New Orleans, LA, on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Travis A. George, officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Private burial.
