Dwight Bernard Alexander

Dwight Bernard Alexander passed away Tuesday August 22, 2023 after a long battle with dementia. For 51 years Dwight was the beloved husband of Patricia Leflore Alexander whom he shared 3 children with, Kenya, Dwight II and Kewana Alexander. He was the proud grandfather of 10 Darien, Darius, Corey, Kelsi, Dwight II, Brianna, Dawson, Alexis, Payton and Dorian. Dwight attended Daniel Small elementary and Jonas Henderson high school in New Iberia LA. He graduated with a degree in architectural engineering from Delgado community college. In 1967 he was drafted into the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War. Dwight was a licensed contractor by trade who was a member of local carpenters union 1846. In 1993 Dwight was ordained a deacon. He served at his beloved St. Raymond Catholic Church where he was also a member of the Knights of Peter Claver’s 4th degree. He was preceded in death by his parents Namon and Dorothy Alexander, his brother Anthony Sr (Denise). Grandparents Obey and Elsie Murray. Father-in-law William LeFlore and Mother-in-law Leona Redden LeFlore. He leaves to mourn his wife Patricia, children and grandchildren. Stepmother Everdia Alexander. Sisters Gwendolyn Doucet (Gratel), Marie and Kim Alexander. Brothers Evan and Kevin Alexander. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

 
 

  • A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Raymond/St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2916 Paris Ave., New Orleans, LA. 70119.

 

  • Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.

 

  • Interment will be September 6, 2023 at Southeast Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Dr. Slidell, LA.,70460.
