Damita Ratliff-Harness

Damita “Deedy” Joann Ratliff Harness peacefully transitioned to her eternal life on July 13, 2024. Born on January 24, 1961, in New Orleans, LA to the late Irma Ratliff and Eddie Barnes Sr. Deedy is a graduate of Joseph S. Clark High School Class of 1979.Deedy Touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and love. Deedy’s career in food service showcased her dedication and hard work, culminating in her position as a manager at Whole Foods before her medical retirement. She was known for her culinary talents, often bringing joy to others through her cooking and baking. Deedy’s vibrant spirit was shown through her love for singing and dancing, and she enjoyed her moments spent with her family and friends. Deedy is survived by her husband of 25 years, Steven Harness; her daughters Tranquil (Ronnie) Crosby II and Phyllis (Kenneth) White; her bonus daughter, Cherry Lisa Harness; her son, Phillip Ratliff Sr.; her grandchildren, Ronnie III, Pharryn, Kellis, Kellin, Tyi’, Phillip Jr. and Kailei; her bonus grandchildren, Meontrey, Ky’ri, KyRel, and Lavarius Jr. She also leaves behind her sisters, Anita and Paula Barnes: her brothers Eddie Jr., Bryan Barnes Sr., and Trevis Overton; one Aunt, Margaret Ratliff- Foxworth and a host of Nieces, Nephews, extended family and dear friends. Deedy was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Irma Barnes; her grandparents, Grover and Halsie Ratliff; her aunt, Jan Ratliff- Overton; and her uncles, Wilfus, Otha, Burnell, and Flowzell Ratliff. Deedy’s legacy of love, compassion, and joy will live on and in the hearts of all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
