BRIAN DYRICK JOHNSON, a victor, never giving up, and always striving, A humorous person with many laughs to render, and always the life of the party. He loved dancing, especially to a brass band in a “Second Line.” Brian was so agile; he was coined the nickname “Rubber-Legs.” A native New Orleanian, graduate of Carver Schools, and an accredited speaker with Toastmasters International. Brian was endeared by many. A spiritual man, believing in God and FAMILY. His personal phrase was, “You got people, here and there.” He leaves behind a legacy of bona fide love. Brian Johnson transitioned on December 10, 2024, at age 59.
Brian is joining his ancestral family preceding him in death. His great-great great grandfather Daniel Dedeaux, great-great grandparents, Elizabeth (Fritz) and Joseph Dedeaux, great grandparents Georgiana (Dedeaux) and Jacob Upshaw, Jill and Elizabeth Garibaldi, grandparent Peter Garibaldi, and Verdlee Upshaw (maternal), Peter Murphy Sr and Lucille (Kemp) Johnson (paternal). His father, Robert Dennis Johnson Sr, three uncles, Peter Murphy Johnson, Jr, Peter, Anthony, and Anthony (the younger of Bridge City, LA) Garibaldi, two aunts, Lucille Johnson Smith, and Alice Johnson Modlest. Four Siblings, Rita Ann Johnson(-Raymond), Harang Joseph Garibaldi, Robert Dennis Johnson Jr. and Terrence Rodney Johnson, Sr.
Brian is survived by his wife, Nikki Johnson and her family, his mother Rita Garibaldi Johnson, four siblings Tammara Cornish, Lucern Newman, Verdlee Johnson-Stevenson, and Anthony Murphy. Brian leaves behind to cherish his legacy many, who affectionately called him “Uncle Brian.” Cousins, relatives, and friends are too many to name are asked to remember his memories and turn them into treasures. Brian loved and have been loved. He will be missed.
