Frank Reese, Sr

Frank Reese, Sr., of New Orleans, LA, at the age of 89, entered his heavenly rest on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 5:00 am.  Frank Reese was born on June 12, 1928 in Lake Providence, LA to the union of Travis and Corrine Reese.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Lee Reese of 67 years.  He is the father of Linda R. Taylor, Gail Reese and Chissell Reese (Decatur, GA). 

 

The grandfather of Taejeanne T. Lawrence (Troy) of Baton Rouge, LA; Alicia J. Leonard and James Leonard, III (both of Amite, LA).  The foster father of Luther R. Barnes (Stone Mountain, GA) and the Godfather of Kenneth Smith (Ocoee, FL).  In 1951 Frank served his country in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged in 1953.  In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, he leaves to cherish his memory his sister-in-law, Sylvia A. Juluke (Atlanta, GA); nieces, Ann Barnes and Mertis Haythorne (both of Las Vegas, NV) and devoted cousin, Frank "Boo" Mortin (Gary, IN) along with a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two of his children, Carol R. Leonard and Frank Reese, Jr., parents Travis and Corrine Reese, sisters, Melinda Flincklin and Amanda Smith and great great-grandson Landon Leonard.

 

Pastors, officers and friends of Galilee Baptist Church and the Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church are invited to attend the homegoing services on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 10:00 am, at First Zion Baptist Church, 7201 Olive Street, New Orleans, LA, where Dr. D. R. Berryhill, Sr., serves as Senior Pastor.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 am.  Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122.
